51% of Latvian lumber exports go to GB

After a 40% rise to 374,800 m³ in the 2nd quarter, in the 3rd quarter exports of rough-sawn and planed softwood lumber from Latvia to Great Britain increased by 33% to 434,700 m³. 

In the 1st quarter, sales had risen by 21% to 314,700 m³. Total Latvian exports showed an increase of nine percent to 51% (42%). Shipments to clients in Estonia (+7% to 48,100 m³) and the Netherlands (+17% to 47,900 m³) also surpassed the corresponding volumes of the preceding year. According to the Forest Department of the Latvian Ministry of Agriculture, a total of 844,700 m³ softwood lumber was exported during July and September, showing a rise of 9%.

Accumulated during the first nine months, 2.387m m³  of softwood lumber was sold for export at a cost of €784.7m. In terms of volume and value, this demonstrates a growth of 4% and 78% in comparison with the corresponding period in the previous year respectively.
